"Yet is was good for you to share in my troubles...Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account." Philippians 4:14, 17 |

In Ecclesiastes 11:1 the writer makes the analogy of casting your bread upon the water. If you cast your bread upon the water it will come back to you. The Hebrews were probably more in tune with the meaning of that statement than most of us. In the early spring they would place sacks of wheat in boats and while spring flood waters were still plentiful, scatter their seed upon the water. As the waters would recede, the seed would be planted and spring up to be healthy, mature and fruitful grain for their bread. But some of that bread would float downstream and others would benefit from the farmers planting. The scriptures imply that even though the original farmer did not benefit from his planting that seed, God would bless him for sharing. Thousands of years later, Paul would write to the Philippians. He was thankful for their financial support. It wasn't for his benefit, because he had learned how to get along with plenty and in need. The gifts of the Philippians were for their benefit. Your gifts to the ARC will not only help us in our ministry, but will open avenues for God to bless you. |
